Three strikes。 I enjoyed this novel even less than Last Girl Ghosted and Confessions on the 7:45。 Prosaic, glacially paced, ridiculously plotted。 (DNA done so much better in Girls with Bright Futures。) Three strikes。 I enjoyed this novel even less than Last Girl Ghosted and Confessions on the 7:45。 Prosaic, glacially paced, ridiculously plotted。 (DNA done so much better in Girls with Bright Futures。) 。。。more

This was a long read for me。 There were so many distractions (I don’t understand at the time) throughout the beginning that I almost stopped reading。 Fortunately, the ending tied it it all together for me and made it a good read。

This thriller has so much potential! When I read the synopsis I was so excited for this book。 The first few chapters are so good; I was hooked! You must just get a rubber stamp from your editor when it's your 20th book being published。 The three female protagonists are all different flavors of doormat for one of the male protagonists。 One character is utterly pointless and yet gets several chapters dedicated to his point of view。 And the entire premise of the killer is rooted in a bad pop psychology misunderstanding of nature v nurture。 You must just get a rubber stamp from your editor when it's your 20th book being published。 The three female protagonists are all different flavors of doormat for one of the male protagonists。 One character is utterly pointless and yet gets several chapters dedicated to his point of view。 And the entire premise of the killer is rooted in a bad pop psychology misunderstanding of nature v nurture。 。。。more

My first Lisa Unger book and I thoroughly enjoyed it。 I was hooked from the beginning。 It never got dull or boring and always stayed intriguing throughout。 Hated some of the characters but the story was very good

Was it Mako or Kat? Why was Alice running and what was she running from? Henry really threw me off。 I suppose I don't care what happens to Mako or Cricket for that matter。 Who knows if she is still talking to Joshua。 It was really confusing for a while, but I think I finally figured most of it out。 3。5 There are a lot of questions about this one。 I am not sure about Bracken。 He doesn't really fit。 I kind of expected the Hannah and Bruce set。 Who did buy the DNA kits? So I'm not going to repeat the premise of the book。 You can read that for yourself。 This book has many characters and altenating timlines, which include twists and turns。 The characters aren't super deeply flushed out, but enough for you to connect with them。 Some are more likable than others。 I liked the DNA site angle and family connections。 This book has a bit of locked door mystery/thriller but not as much as others I have read。 I give this book somewhere between 3。5 and 4 stars。 It was an e So I'm not going to repeat the premise of the book。 You can read that for yourself。 This book has many characters and altenating timlines, which include twists and turns。 The characters aren't super deeply flushed out, but enough for you to connect with them。 Some are more likable than others。 I liked the DNA site angle and family connections。 This book has a bit of locked door mystery/thriller but not as much as others I have read。 I give this book somewhere between 3。5 and 4 stars。 It was an entertaining quick read。 。。。more

Mako’s wife Liza is getting threatening text messages, Hannah feels like something is very off with her husband, and Cricket still harbors feelings for Mako。 The group also feels like they are being watched all the time。 There’s also a big storm headed their way that will likely wash out the roads。The action really heats up as secrets and danger swirl around these six people and I couldn’t put this one down! If you were to offer a secluded cabin weekend to me right now, I would say no way!A well-paced read that may have had some over-the-top moments at the end, but good escapism fiction for me!My sincere thanks to Legend Press and NetGalley for the opportunity read this one and honestly review it! 。。。more

Fun enough book to read if you have nothing else to do! The chapters are written in different perspectives…。 And there are a lot of characters。 A lot of names。 And it doesn’t come together until the end, and not very well at that。 It is a little confusing。 But it is also pretty fun and fast paced if you can get the hang of the characters names and all the plots。

Most of it was good, motive was a stretch。 A couple characters made no sense in the story。

I have read Lisa Unger before and this new book did not disappoint。 This authrs ability to draw you into her spine tingling thrillers is astonishing。 This story I read was an audio book and I literally had to fight to turn it of。 Her ability to create cliff hanger spots in the stoy is truly her specialty。 I was amazed at the twists in the plot that were stil lhappening after 90 percentof the story was told。 This book reminded me of the Hunting Party by Lisa Foley。

Unger ALWAYS deliversI love all of Lisa’s books。 She makes the dark side of life come alive and the twists and turns are unpredictable。 Yet hope is always interwoven on the pages。 A fabulous book about family。

Hold that thought。 Once the group arrives at the cabin, we start to get to know the characters a little better。 Alternating from past to present across multiple characters, it was challenging to keep track of who was who, or to become attached to any one person。 I couldn’t find myself rooting for anyone。 The characters were largely unlikeable and that was frustrating。 Wait it out。I found myself lost and a little confused in the multiple seemingly unrelated storylines。 As the layers started to peel away, the overarching theme came to light。 Do bad people evolve from their life circumstances or their genetic predispositions? If you knew you could protect others from future harm, what lengths might you go to do that? I honestly loved this fresh take on this old philosophical and ethical question。 Honestly, the story got a bit messy in the middle。 I wasn’t connecting with anyone let alone liking any of the characters, but it comes together in the end。 It kept me reading and the genetics of it - for me, that’s what saved it in the end。 3⭐️#SecludedCabinSleepsSix #NetGalley #Bookstagram #Thriller 。。。more

Can she trust her best friend? Meanwhile, someone is determined to ruin the weekend, looking to exact a payback for deeds long buried。 Who is the stranger among them?My Thoughts: Alternating narrators tell the story of Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six。 Friends are looking forward to time away from work and some irritating events in their lives, each of them sharing bits of their stories。 Then there are narrators not part of the group, unknown to the reader until later in the tale。 Their bits and pieces reminded me of horror in the making, not sure of their roles in events unfolding in that cabin。 Are they connected in any way to the friends in the cabin?Even the six friends have secrets that slowly begin to show us more about the nightmare that is coming their way。What will we learn about them all as we await the answers? How do the Origins DNA kits they got the previous Christmas reveal more information? And will the storm unleashing turn everything upside down in their lives? As we near the end, things begin to click into place and hope is on the horizon。 5 stars。 。。。more

OkayIt’s a good enough story, but the characters are pretty flat in spite of the twists。 It’s kind of like if Hallmark commissioned a thriller。

I had a hard time staying with this one。 The story was good but there were so many characters to follow, each with their point of view, plus flashbacks。 I recommend taking notes so you can keep up。 The suspe se was great throughout but it all ended very abruptly。 The last few chapters were a good epilogue。 Thanks #netgalley for a first look!

I'll be honest, you had me at a new Lisa Unger book is now available! I love the author and the thrills she provides through her books。 Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six will give you plenty of thrills and guesses at who is doing what, but you most likely will be wrong。 The book opens at Christmas 2017 with a family celebrating。 Hannah and Bruce are new parents to a nine month old daughter, Gigi and Hannah's brother, Mako is there with his wife Liza。 As dinner is finished, the Dad, Leo says there's one I'll be honest, you had me at a new Lisa Unger book is now available! I love the author and the thrills she provides through her books。 Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six will give you plenty of thrills and guesses at who is doing what, but you most likely will be wrong。 The book opens at Christmas 2017 with a family celebrating。 Hannah and Bruce are new parents to a nine month old daughter, Gigi and Hannah's brother, Mako is there with his wife Liza。 As dinner is finished, the Dad, Leo says there's one more gift behind the tree。 The gift was an Origins DNA test kit for everyone in the family。 The weird thing is no one would admit to being the gift giver! Some said they were going to throw there's away, some were excited, and some wondered why anyone would buy this? Later that evening Mako starts teasing Hannah about a trip he has planned for them in June。 He's paid for a luxurious getaway at a remote cabin with a personal chef, masseuse, and hot tub。 Mako is paying for the entire trip as a birthday present for Hannah。 Mako thinks Hannah might back out because she doesn't want to leave Gigi。 The trip is for Hannah and Bruce, Mako and Liza, and Cricket and Joshua。 Cricket has been best friends with Hannah since they were little and dated Mako off and on before he met Liza。 An adults only weekend, so Gigi will be watched by Bruce's mom。Once it's time to pack for the trip, Hannah has reservations about going。 Bruce has been acting a bit distant and she doesn't want to leave Gigi。 Luckily, she has an app on her cell phone that will show Gigi through cameras around the house。 Hannah decides to go knowing she'll be able to see Gigi that way and she feels very confident in Bruce's mom。 Mako and Liza are the first to arrive at the cabin。 They can't get over how big it is and the beautiful views it has。 There's also a guest house behind the main house if you had others coming。 They don't plan on using anything but the main house which sleeps six。 Bracken is the owner of the cabin and several others that are in the general area。 He seems a bit off。 What is his story and what is he hiding? When all three couples arrive they settle in and start to relax。 Unfortunately, Liza gets a terrible migraine upon arrival and feels very sick。 She blames it on the IVF treatments that she's had as she and Mako want to have a child。 She excuses herself at dinner and goes to lie down。 As the chef and his assistant are preparing and serving the meal he tells them about the tragedy that occurred at a the cabin。 A family had been murdered and some say they still see a ghost of the mom looking for the children。 The book is told from different timelines with Hannah, Cricket, and Mako as well as people you're not sure how they fit in named Trina, Henry, Piper, and Catrina。 Bracken the owner of the cabin tells the group about a bad storm moving in。 He assures them that even if the power goes out, the generator will kick in within a minute or two。 The roads sometimes wash out and are unpassable, so he warns them to stay inside if it gets bad。 They have his phone number to call in an emergency。 What could go wrong, right? How well does Hannah know her husband, Bruce? He seems to hate her brother Mako even though he has worked with him before。 Hannah begins to question how well she knows her brother Mako。 Why is he flirting with Cricket when his wife is upstairs and Cricket's new boyfriend Joshua is at the cabin? Why does Joshua look so familiar to Hannah? He says they've never met! When the storm arrives and the power goes out all bets are off! What's that light through the trees? Is that someone outside? Prepare yourself for quite a thrill ride! This book will have you hooked and you'll enjoy every moment! I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it。 I rated it 5 stars and have already told friends and family to read it。 I'd like to thank NetGalley and Legend Press for an advanced copy of Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six in exchange for a fair review。 。。。more
